Jute is a fibrous plant similar to hemp, making these hydroponic grow pads perform much like those made from hemp fiber. The Jute fibers are needle punched into a natural felt-like mat that allows roots to burrow much like they would in soil. One time use, as roots will envelop fibers completely.

*The Jute Mat manufacturer uses a plant-based oil to keep the dust down. It’s called Jute Batching Oil. It has a very strong smell that some people think smells like petroleum. It’s completely natural and harmless.
